About the founder of Diamond Rose Jewellery
Cindy Niland-Visser
My greatest achievements relate to my passion …getting it right and working hard. I’ve sailed short handed ¾ way round the world with my husband, am raising 4 children, run two jewellery stores , a growing online business, a wholesale fashion jewellery business and support a livelihood programme in a developing country that empowers up to 50 women who hand make my jewellery in their own homes.
In the future I will grow my fashion jewellery business internationally and see the livelihood program move to other developing countries where women are looking to empower themselves through self employment opportunities.
My role is as a catalyst, manager and entrepreneur. I hope to gain the satisfaction of knowing that I am empowered and am empowering other women to achieve their own goals – whether that is sustainable employment or building wealth. The greatest challenge in my role is to ensure that the business stays fresh and has sufficient cash flow to continue growing.
I grew up in housing commission housing, where my mother was a single parent. I left home at 16. I decided to get into business for myself after having a heap of disasters working for inept, chauvinist male managers in companies which didn’t give me any opportunity at all to shine.
I’ve been running Diamond Rose Jewellery for the past 4 years. My best attributes are my passion, eye for detail and strong work ethic. |
